(Seychelles News Agency) - It has been a few years now that the big banks worldwide have set up a system through which their clients can manage their accounts via the internet, which they can even do from home.

This facility has done away with the need to go to a bank, queue and carry out a transaction all of which could take up to one hour; thus saving clients time.

Here in Seychelles, following on from Barclays Bank and MCB it is now the turn of the Nouvobanq of which the government is the majority shareholder, to offer this service to its clients.

Nouvobanq clients can access the service through the bank’s website; nouvobanq.com.

“For the time being we have offered this system only to those of our clients who get their bank statements via the internet because they are already availing of our services via the internet but we are encouraging all our clients to do the same, as this reduces the pressure on the cahiers and at the same time it allows our employees to do other things,” Nouvobanq’s Director of Operations -Deoraj Puddoo stated.

In a world fast evolving in new technologies, adaptation is a must and Nouvobanq has said it has already installed all the necessary security measures to ensure maximum protection for transactions its clients may carry out through the internet.

"We have decided to adapt to the evolution in technologies available because the other banks have done so, but also to satisfy the needs of our clients who are more familiar with internet usage and who do not wish to come and queue in the bank,” Puddoo added.

Nouvobanq has said it intends to use the internet banking facility to diversify its products, while the costs of transactions will not be affected.

“Our clients can now transfer money from their Nouvobanq account to another, either within the bank itself or to another banking institution in Seychelles, using the internet. They can also pay their bills, set up standing orders and make international money transfers this way,” he concluded.
