(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles Islands Development Company, IDC, has confirmed the disappearance of one of its employees who was working on Astove island some 1,045km southwest of the archipelago’s main island of Mahé.

Astove is part of the Aldabra group of islands.

In a press statement issued this morning IDC said the man of Indian origin has been missing since yesterday evening (Wednesday October 29).

“The incident has been reported to the police and a search party led by police officers has today landed on the atoll to continue the search for the missing person,” reads the statement.

IDC and the Seychelles police have said that they will provide an update as soon as there is new information on the incident.
