(Seychelles News Agency) - It’s one of the most famous international art exhibitions in the world, held every two years since 1895, and the Seychelles islands in the Indian Ocean are considering sending a group of artists to participate.

The Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture is putting into study a proposal presented by Nitin Shroff, a Seychellois professional photographer based in Europe to participate in the forthcoming Venice Art Biennale 2015.

Nitin Shroff, a curator at the Venice Art Biennale 2015 presented Alain St.Ange, the Minister for Tourism and Culture with a proposal to bring on board a group of well established Seychellois visual arts artists to participate in the exhibition.

According to Nitin Shroff, Seychelles presence in Venice Art Biennale 2015, “will be an ideal exposure for Seychellois artists”.

“The Venice Art Biennale which translates as the Olympic for artists, has the potential to position Seychelles on the world culture map of visual artists. The Venice Art Biennale is a treasure trove of renown arts collections and will bring publicity to Seychelles’’ said Shroff.

He suggested the setting up of a Seychellois Pavilion of well established visual arts at Venice Art Biennale to be held from June until November 2015.

Shroff explained that he has compiled a proposed list of Seychelles visual arts artists that will now need to be updated after feed back from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

St.Ange said that Seychelles is “keen to embark on such an interesting project which represents a great revolution for Seychellois visual arts artists to make themselves heard and seen.”

He added that a “Seychelles pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale 2015 can only become a reality and be seen as a success story for Seychellois visual arts artists if the support of local painting community is forthcoming’’
