Seychelles police officers accused of stealing are discharged from the force

(Seychelles News Agency) - Two police officers accused of stealing have been 'discharged from the force,' according to a statement issued by the Seychelles police this afternoon.

The two officers from the National Crime Services Division who were arrested Tuesday May 06 are accused of stealing an outboard engine and a small boat from another vessel, while it was berthed at the former Seychelles Coast Guard base next to Port Victoria, the main port of the Seychelles archipelago.

Since their arrest, the two male officers one aged 31 years old and the other 29 years old had been remanded in police custody until this Friday May 09.

“Both suspects have been released from lawful custody while investigation in their case continues,” adds to police statement issued today.

It is to be noted that following its investigation the police recovered the stolen property within 24 hours after the incident was reported.
