(Seychelles News Agency) - A third young lady SNA has met so far who has embarked on the quest to try and be crowned the next Miss Seychelles is from Praslin, the second most populated island of the Seychelles archipelago.

Contestant Number 5 Marvel Godley, is currently living at Mont Fleuri, a central district on Mahe, the main island of the Seychelles.

Presently an Assistant Accountant, Godley has other plans for the future as she aspires to become a dive master and to manage her parents’ hotel on her native island in five years’ time.

The 22 year old contestant hopes that the competition will help her share her appreciation of life, nature and friendship with the world, at the same time learning as much as possible from the experience.

“I have lost many close friends, some at a very young age...... so I wake up every morning appreciating the fact that I have made it through yet another day and ready to start writing a new chapter of my life's story,” she told SNA.

Godley who loves the hot sun and beautiful blue sea that surround the island nation is a strong environmental advocate very much concerned about coastal erosion.

“As my parents own a small hotel on Praslin, practically on the beach, I feel sad when I stand and see the massive changes happening; to the vegetation and the natural beauty of the beach.”

If crowned Miss Seychelles… Another World 2014, her plan is to start coastal rehabilitation projects to help safeguard the Seychelles beaches.

The young lady’s concern vis-à-vis the environment is not her only interest, as she also loves experimenting in the kitchen.

“Although I have no idea what I'm doing....for me it's an art and I like my pot to be colourful,” she cheerfully told SNA.

Another great passion of hers is arts and craft, which include figurative drawings, sewing, making kumihimo bracelets (friendship bracelets) with threads, beads and local seeds, and is still working on painting. The outdoorsy kind of girl also enjoys fishing!

One of Godley’s childhood memories which she holds dearly is ‘family game night’.

“Before I moved to Mahé for my studies, every Saturdays my parents would gather my older brother, my sister and I upstairs where we played board games, told stories, had snacks, watch movies and had a laugh. I love family life and togetherness,” says Godley.

Marvel Godley says she would have loved to meet humanitarians such as the late Mother Theresa or Mahatma Ghandi to discuss their perspectives on life.

Contestant number 5 in this year’s Miss Seychelles…Another World beauty pageant Godley along with her 11 other colleagues have another 8 days before the crowning ceremony, which will see one of them heading to London in November for the Miss World pageant.
