(Seychelles News Agency) - Twenty-one year old Christa, Marie-Reine Joubert is a young lady who’s passionate about children so much so that one of the things she enjoys most is spending time with the children living at the “President’s Village” one of the children’s homes in Seychelles.

Originally from Baie Ste Anne on the second most populated Seychelles island of Praslin, she is now living and working on the main island of Mahé.

Holding an advanced certificate in reception and operations services from the Seychelles Tourism Academy, Joubert is currently working as a front desk agent at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort, located at Baie Lazare a Southern district on the main island of the archipelago.

Nevertheless the ambitious young lady dreams of owning her own make-up studio or beauty salon and for that she is already dreaming of pursuing her studies this time in the fields of wellness and spa.

Before joining the Miss Seychelles beauty pageant Joubert already got a taste of what pageantry is all about when she took part in the Miss Kempinski beauty pageant last year, organized by the resort where she is working but she acknowledges that her journey as a Miss Seychelles contestant is proving more exciting and challenging.

“The rehearsals have been tougher than expected, though I’m able to cope with it all,” she said.

Over the past months the 12 contestants chosen as finalists for the Miss Seychelles…..Another World pageant have taken part in a wide range of activities, where Joubert really enjoyed visiting the Seychelles hospital on Women’s Day as well as a trip to her native land of Praslin.

“Visiting my native island, felt so good, since I haven’t been there for nearly a year now…” she said smiling.

On crowning night, Contestant number 6 Christa Joubert has promised to give her very best, and has vowed to devote herself and time to represent the island nation to the best of her abilities if crowned ‘Miss Seychelles…Another World 2014.

Having said that Joubert believes that win or lose she will be content as she believes all of the contestants are already winners.

“True beauty is one’s unique interior and exterior qualities,” she told SNA.

Known as ‘Chris’ by people close to her, the most important principle in life for the young lady is to accept life as it is, with all its challenges and hardships….as much as she values the views and opinions of others.

Watching a good movie, heading to one of the beautiful white sandy beaches of the Seychelles or simply socializing with friends and families are some of the things she enjoys but one passion that tops her list is singing.

To illustrate the theme “Beauty with a Purpose” which the pageant organizers, the Seychelles Tourism Board wants to show in each contestant, Christa Joubert has allowed herself to be guided by her love for children.

Through her project she is dedicated to support the President’s Village children’s home located at Port Glaud a Western district of the main island of Mahe by helping to create a happier environment for them.

Spending even more time with the children, giving them moral, emotional and spiritual support, bringing them to church on Sundays, babysitting the little ones, help the older ones with their homework are some of the things she plans on doing.

“Volunteering reflects your generosity, something I believe the crown bearer should possess…,” Joubert told SNA as the encounter with the twenty-one year old came to an end.

Exactly one week remains to see who will be the lucky young lady to take home the Miss Seychelles crown which will be only the beginning of her journey as an ambassador for the island nation.
