(Seychelles News Agency) - Akshay Kumar, one of the leading actors of Indian cinema, is reported to be celebrating his 49th birthday on Friday in the Seychelles with his wife of 15 years, Twinkle Khanna.
According to Indian media such as the Mumbai Mirror, the couple flew from Mumbai to the Seychelles capital, Victoria on a private jet with their son Aarav and daughter Nitara this week for sun, sea, luxurious accommodation and privacy.
The Indian Ocean archipelago of 115 islands nestled in the western Indian Ocean is famed for its powder-white sands, warm turquoise seas and discretion when hosting celebrities seeking time away from the spotlight.
Kumar and Khanna are typically tight-lipped about their family vacations. The couple have have rigorously shielded their children from the media spotlight. Neither of the couple have shared any clues to their whereabouts on their social media accounts, although Kumar has been actively responding to celebrities and fans wishing him a happy birthday on Twitter.
Kumar, who is well-known for his action, comedy and drama roles he has performed in box office hits such as Khiladi, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Dhadkan and Andaaz, is still very active and an influential figure in the movie business. After appearing in over 100 Hindi-language films, his star is still very much on the rise, having just taken a break from shooting Jolly LLB 2 on set in Lucknow.
The Punjabi-born actor is a sixth-degree black belt in karate, and his 13-year-old son Aarav is also a keen martial artist. When unable to do his usual training in the gym or the dojo, Akshay likes to keep his fitness levels to a peak by climbing trees and doing parkour.
His wife, also a former actress herself and now interior designer, author and columnist, is the daughter of Bollywood legendary actors Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Kumar, making the family one of the most influential in Indian cinema circles.
Kumar was listed among the world's 10 highest-paid actors in 2015, according to Forbes.
Fresh from his box-office success of Rustom, the Indian star has reportedly been planning the getaway for months at a “sea-facing villa at a plush resort in Seychelles with an infinity pool, organic menu on order, a gym and gaming rooms,” according to Indian celebrity tabloid Stardust.
The Mumbai Mirror reported that the family will continue their Indian Ocean island adventures in the Comoros, Mayotte, Madagascar and Mauritius, returning to Mumbai at the end of September.
