(Seychelles News Agency) - Namibia will focus bilateral cooperation with Seychelles on the fishing and tourism industries, the newly accredited High Commissioner said.

The Namibian High Commissioner to Seychelles, Veiccoh Nghiwete, presented his accreditation documents to Seychelles President James Michel on Tuesday.

Nghiwete told reporters that Namibia and Seychelles need to share experience in the tourism industry.

“We have come a long way, and therefore we must continue to share experience, work together, and help each other according to the cooperative advantages of our two countries,” said Nghiwete.

The new High Commissioner said that protecting the marine resources of the two countries and maintaining a sustainable program for these resources is of great importance.

According to Nghiwete, another possibility of bilateral cooperation between Namibia and Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean, is in economic cooperation.

“Both our countries enjoy peace and stability. What is left is to strengthen our economic cooperation,” said Nghiwete.

Following his accreditation ceremony, Nghiwete paid a courtesy call on Seychelles Vice President Danny Faure, where further discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation took place.

The two countries are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of bilateral cooperation soon.

The newly appointed High Commissioner will be based in Pretoria in South Africa.
