(Seychelles News Agency) - The Constance Lémuria Resort on Praslin, Seychelles' second-most populated island, has reopened with a modern architecture and a complete makeover of its restaurants.

At the opening ceremony, the General Manager of the hotel, Bruno Le Gac, said that in carrying out the makeover, Lémuria wanted to keep what made its success -- an architecture which blends with the Seychelles' natural environment -- but with an additional touch of modernity, colour and contrast.

“That's why we worked with a Parisian architect, Marc Hertrich, with whom we already work in the Maldives and who realised what you see today -- that is a complete change of spirit, something very modern, I would say trendy while keeping the timeless side of Lémuria,” said Le Gac.

The project for a complete makeover of Lémuria started two years ago, and the hotel was closed this year between August and October when work was being done.

Located on the north-western coast of Praslin, Lémuria Resort is reputed for its idyllic properties with access to some of the gorgeous beaches of the island including Anse Georgette and has a unique 18-hole golf course designed by Rodney Wright, an American architect.

The  Lémuria golf course was awarded best luxury golf resort of the African continent in October at the World Luxury Hotel Awards in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The resort is one of two chains of the International brand of Constance Hotels and Resorts in Seychelles, a group of 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean. The second hotel is Constance Ephelia located at Port Launay in the western district of Port Glaud on the main island, Mahe. In the World Luxury Hotel Award ceremony, Ephelia won the best luxury island resort.

The extensive facelift of the 16-year-old luxury hotel covered the rooms of different sizes, entrances as well as restaurants, one of which will be offering something new.

“One of our restaurant which used to be called Seahorse has today a new concept called Diva that you are going to discover soon -- something completely new which does not exist in Seychelles and which is really innovative and very original,” said Le Gac.

Having greeted various celebrities including retired French Footballer Zinédine Zidane, the stylish Constance Lémuria has also introduced other services such as pedicure and manicure with expert Brice Nicham as well as new Mediterranean flavours to their menus.

The hotel manager said Lémuria has always been successful and with the new makeover, the hotel will have a new cycle of success in the years to come and this will promote the Seychelles name across the world.
