(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles’ President Danny Faure will be participating in the 16th summit of the French-speaking countries taking place in Madagascar from November 26-27, State House said.

The summit is aimed at strengthening the process of building the French-speaking community, particularly in the Indian Ocean region, and will be under the theme ‘Shared growth and responsible development.’

A delegation from the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) is already in Madagascar attending preliminary activities on the margin of the summit organised by the Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports from French Speaking countries (CONFEJES).

Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean, is represented by two young people: Daniel Dina doing metal works, and Vivienne Dodin in massage and care services, a press statement from the council said.

The chief executive of the council, Alvin Laurence said, “The show aims at allowing young entrepreneurs to display their products and creates a favourable framework for exchanges between the delegation of the CONFEJES, the young entrepreneurs-exhibitors and the visitors at the Salon,” quoted the statement.

The salon is bringing together young entrepreneurs of the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean and promoters from six countries -- the Comoros, Djibouti, Haiti, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles.

The summit of the French-speaking countries – held every two years -- is a meeting of heads of states and governments of the ‘Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie’ set up in 1970. Seychelles became a state member in 1976.
