(Seychelles News Agency) - A new coffee brand -- ‘Seycafe’ -- has been launched in the Seychelles islands by the Seychelles Trading Company (STC).

The brand was launched because customers wanted more varieties and STC only had instant coffee, the company's chief executive said.

"Not everybody likes instant coffee. They wanted a nice quality coffee at a reasonable price," CEO Veronique Laporte said at the launch ceremony on Friday

Laporte said it is important to give good quality coffee at a reasonable price and that, “For people who like coffee in the morning, I think it is an exceptional brand and taste that they can enjoy.

Seycafe is a blend of coffee beans grown on the world’s leading plantations in Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Vincent Meriton, Seychelles’ Vice President, was the first invitee at the launching to taste ‘Seycafe’.

“It’s a unique blend for Seychelles. It is rich, creamy and good,” said Meriton.

The newly launched coffee is being produced and packaged in a factory in South Africa.

Seycafe is the second coffee under the STC brand after the Golden Roast - an instant coffee.
