(Seychelles News Agency) - The Seychelles’ President Danny Faure has expressed his deep sorrow and grief in a message to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II following a second terror attack in the United Kingdom during the weekend, a communiqué from State House on Sunday said.

According to the Sun a U.K. news company, “On Saturday on London Bridge, a three-strong terrorist gang wearing fake suicide vests were shot dead by armed police after inflicting eight minutes of terror on those enjoying a summer's evening in the capital, killing seven and injuring 48.”

In his message to Her Majesty, Faure said that yet again this callous act of terror sought to instil fear and strike at the very heart of British values of freedom, liberty and openness.

The head of state added that “Seychelles continues to stand with the British people during these vicious periods and was certain that the indomitable spirit of the Britons would vanquish this terror and rise above the perpetuation of hate by these groups of terror.”

Faure reiterated to Her Majesty that the thoughts and prayers of all of Seychelles, a group of 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean, are with the families of the bereaved and with the United Kingdom.

The attack was the third terror strike in the United Kingdom this year after a man drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in March and a bomb attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester two weeks ago.

The Islamic State of Iraq -- ISIS -- has claimed responsibility for the London attacks.
