(Seychelles News Agency) - Award-winning travel brands in Africa and the Indian Ocean have been unveiled at the World Travel Awards gala ceremony in Durban, South Africa on Saturday

The World Travel Awards support, promote and develop the global travel and tourism industry by identifying and rewarding excellence and inspiring its practitioners to raise the standards of their products and services.

SNA presents winners from Seychelles in the region and country categories.

Indian Ocean Region

Air Seychelles -- Indian Ocean's Leading Airline - Economy Class 2018

Once again the Seychelles’ national carrier, Air Seychelles, came out as the leading airline, this time in economy class. Established in 1978, the airline offers international flights to Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg, Mauritius and Mumbai. Air Seychelles also operates daily domestic flights and charter services throughout the archipelago.

Constance Ephelia -- Indian Ocean’s leading green resort

For the third consecutive year, the hotel took the top spot. Located on two of the most beautiful beaches on Mahe, the main island, and overlooking the marine national park of Port Launay, the hotel enjoys a unique location set within 120 hectares of land with luxuriant and rare vegetation.

The award is the result of several green initiatives taken by the hotel such as saving energy and water, recycling, composting and protection of fauna and flora.

The resort with 67 luxurious villas built like tree houses is located at Petite Anse beach in Baie Lazare, a southern district on Mahe. The architecture is a mixture of Creole with French colonial and European influences.

Four Seasons Seychelles at Desroches -- Indian Ocean’s leading new resort

This resort is located on Desroches island -- a low-lying stretch of coral and lush vegetation -- opened its doors to guests in March. Visitors can enjoy luxurious rooms in cabanas and villas feature colonial-style wooden furnishings and floors.

The new resort on Desroches Island has 40 exclusive beach suites and 11 private residence villas, two restaurants and a lounge bar.
